This is the entry level certification course for recreational divers wishing to utilize enriched air nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22% to 40% oxygen content. By increasing oxygen content in the breathing gas (and hence decreasing nitrogen content), diver gain benefits such as longer no-decompression time limits and shorter surface intervals between dives. Or, when used in conjunction with air dive tables, nitrox may be used to add a safety margin to dives.
The course consists of one classroom session, approx. 6 hours in length. No dives are required (2 recommended).
