Great Lakes Tech Diving

Advanced Training for Great Lakes Divers

Courses Trips Presentations About Me

The Great Lakes comprise the world's largest supply of fresh water.  Lying at the bottom of the lakes are some of the best shipwrecks to be found anywhere in the world.  Shipwrecks do not deteriorate in cool, fresh water as they do in salt water.  Hence the Great Lakes are home to many wrecks over 100 years old in an amazing state of preservation.  The more intact wrecks tend to lie at, or beyond, the recognized limits for recreational scuba diving.  In order to enjoy these wrecks, training in decompression diving and mixed gas diving is essential.  I am a TDI instructor specializing in technical dive training for the purpose of diving Great Lakes shipwrecks.  Class size is small so I can tailor the course to meet students' needs.  My course schedules are very flexible while still meeting agency certification standards.  In fact, my courses usually exceed agency standards with more classroom instruction and more training dives (both in the quarry and in the Great Lakes).  All courses (except Nitrox Diver) require training dives.  Unlike many instructors, I believe it's important to conduct training dives in the quarry as well as on actual Great Lakes dive trips.  Potential destinations for these dives include Whitefish Point, Straits of Mackinac, numerous locations in Lake Huron (Rogers City, Presque Isle, Harbor Beach, Port Austin, Mi. to name a few), Tobermory, On., Barcelona, NY (Lake Erie) and the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence River.  Please browse around the web site and contact me if you have questions or would like more information.
