I actually convinced my Dad to
drive over 400 miles to take me to Selinsgrove Pennsylvania to see Leo
Laporte and Patrick Norton while they were on tour. We arrived at
the mall where they were going to be at 9:30 AM, Leo and Pat weren't
supposed to arrive to 1:00 PM, a nice long wait for us. We were the
first people there, they were still setting up the setting up the set (see
pic below). I was wearing a shirt that said "Support
Laporte" had a picture of Leo and said "www.supportlaporte.cjb.net"
on it. A staff member came over and said that she would make sure
that we saw Leo and Pat since we came so far and waited so long.
Before Leo and Pat arrived Ken Marquis, the producer of The Screen Savers
was giving a talk. He said "Everybody, get in line" I
raced for the front, and I made it, the first person in a line of about
500 people. Ken did some more talking, then looked down and saw me,
chuckled at the shirt an d
pulled me onstage. He saw my Mom taking pictures of me, up on stage
and posed in the picture to the left. I got off the stage shortly
before Leo and Pat came in. Leo and Patrick came in and got onstage
and Leo started talking. Leo then pointed to me and said
"...Ha, I like that shirt..."
then Leo talked some more. Then Leo pulled me onstage! He
asked me some questions like my name, and when I told him where we came
from, Toledo Ohio, he said "Wow, you drove from Toledo just to see
us??!!" then he said some more and said "who drove you
here?" I pointed to my Dad and said he did. Leo had Dad come
onstage with me. He talked to us for awhile in front of the crowd
then I got back down and Leo started signing autographs. So I came
back around to the stage and Patrick asked what my name was (again) then
Patrick wrote "To James, Thanks for driving in from Toledo" and
Leo signed it. And for my dads picture he put "Thanks for being
a great chaffeur" and then I asked Leo if he would sign my Support
Laporte t-shirt. Leo said he would.
Leo wrote on my shirt "Right on, James" and then signed the
shirt. While Leo signed my shirt the camera crew zoomed in on my
shirt, and did some other stuff. Then when I was done the newspaper
guy asked me a few questions. Then Ken, found me and my family,
brought the camera crew over, and they filmed our family doing a ZDTV
promo which will b e aired on T.V. and then they interviewed me about why
I like ZDTV, my favorite show, favorite host, and some other questions.
Then we all got a ZDTV T-shirt, a ZDTV hat, and I got a Screen Savers hat.
Then, we realized that I hadn't gotten my picture taken with Leo Laporte
and Patrick Norton, they me get back onstage so that we could take a
picture, Leo had us take two picture, one he is doing the "L"
for "Leo" and in the second one, we're just standing there.
It was very fun, and was worth the drive there.
